Timeline

History is often summarised as a timeline of events. The internet makes it possible to make these timelines more flexible - e.g. scrollable and zoomable. This timeline demonstrates basic internet timeline functionality using key events in Ballarat's history. Ideally, in future timelines, photos and maps would be linked in - events would be mapped to locations so that each location on a map has a combined timeline of events and photos. It may also be possible to 'nest' events by theme, so a subset of events can be turned on or off to focus on particular events of interest to the user.
